An excellent piece in the The Christian Science Monitor about the importance of engaging local communities - and helping them benefit - if we're serious about stopping deforestation in the Amazon. #COP26 csmonitor.com/World/Americas…
Here are some of my thoughts on the #MarshallFire…thank you Democracy Now! for taking time to speak with me this morning. We are #ColoradoStrong but we need to build back smarter, more climate resilient. #ClimateCrisis
The #MarshallFire is the most destructive fire in Colorado by far…from data Maxwell C. Cook Lise Ann St. Denis and Earth Lab CU-Boulder team pulled together from incident reports since 1999.
An excellent piece by Julia Rosen and The Atlantic about #grasslands - often overlooked, severely imperiled, and almost impossible to restore once they’re destroyed. Forests are important, but grasslands need attention too. theatlantic.com/science/archiv…
Congratulations to CU, Jennifer Balch and all the others involved in launching this important new lab!
This is such an important, underreported story, looking at the health impacts of the Marshall Fire, particularly for those whose homes are still standing. Kudos to Boulder Reporting Lab Hillary Rosner Stacy Feldman and the terrific Center for Environmental Journalism grad students for this collaboration.
Lots of great words in today’s 🐝 Sam Ezersky but what’s wrong with these two fairly common words? (I won’t even mention the weird bias against cool wild cats…).
An excellent piece by Jennifer Balch Wildfires were once slowed by night and winter. Not anymore. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/…
