👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻I’m consistently shocked by the pay/workload/qualification disparities regarding LRW faculty. Unfortunately for me, I genuinely love teaching writing. Fortunately for me, I’m looking forward to a new academic home with pay and respect equality for LRW. University of Arkansas School of Law

Some folks assume that #qualitative research is always inductive & grounded—that magically, after repeated readings, the “themes emerge.” As such, they drag their feet in reviewing literature & wait until the end before wading into focused analysis. The result? 🧵

One of my students walked with me to office hours yesterday. When I opened the door, he said: “This is it? Then where does all of our tuition money go?” 😅

Final Disclaimer: Some profs do not WANT to switch. They love what they do and they are so damned good at it. They just want recognition and equity for the scholarship/teaching/service they do. And tenure is a path. So is labor market mobility for those that choose it!

Such an important conversation. I can’t count how many times I have seen respect drain from faces of new colleagues when I tell them I primarily teach legal writing.
