England’s total population vs. real wages before and after James Watts’ steam engine (1800s). His invention wasn’t novel, but it was twice as efficient as its predecessors. (Source: Andrew McAfee’s More from Less)

My 3 year old daughter Lila was recently diagnosed with a VERY rare and aggressive type of #leukemia. 👉 It’s potentially treatment resistant… AND 👉 Requires a bone marrow transplant. A🧵with all the details we have so far 👇 Please @Twitter help me save my little girl.

My prediction: AI agent pricing = cost of compute + margin, with margin being determined by market bidding mechanism similar to AdWords. I think price quoting will work like crypto gas fees (i.e. you’ll see the estimated price of completing the task before executing)

I believe the first and second approach are anchored to human labor costs, driven by clear supply and demand curves. But with AI agents and on a long enough time horizon, this model breaks down - agent supply will be virtually infinite, limited only by compute. Pricing may

It is evident that with time these machines will: (a) redefine the upper bounds of musculoskeletal physics (i.e. do what humans do but MUCH faster), and (b) invent new interactions with the physical world previously impossible / unknown to humans.

Spot on. DeepSeek R1 accelerated AI's deflationary economics, supercharging adoption. The surge in inference compute demand—and the its underlying infrastructure —just leaped years ahead overnight.

DeepSeek's R1 shows how competitive Chinese open-source AI creates a 'third lane' for Gulf states beyond US-China camps. Key advantages: efficient architecture broadens procurement options for Gulf states, reducing – though not eliminating – their need for advanced chips +

Trump’s tariffs pave the way for the GCC to not only be an inference powerhouse, but also a major player in critical AI training. While semiconductors are currently exempt from the recently imposed tariffs, other data centre components (servers, power units, etc.) primarily

A great essay from ⁦Air Street Press⁩ about the potential perils of full stack ‘Sovereign AI’ infrastructure sourced from one of the great powers, rather than both [or more]. press.airstreet.com/p/sovereign-ai…
