I took a four hour train ride in the Swiss alps, where I was supposed to be working. It is impossible with so much beauty next to the computer!

This is a tweet of the current Secretary (or minister) of Education of Argentina with the "solution" to the math problem he posted in his twitter account. This is not a fake. See the third equation. This is the human capital of those in power --pun intended.

Today we received the very sad news of Ed Prescott passing away. Most of the profession knows of the brilliance, creativity and depth of his contributions. Ed students know of his incredible generosity, friendship, and support. My condolences to his family and friends.

Today is a very sad day, Bob Lucas passed away. He was a tremendous scientist, a towering intellectual. Macroeconomics in the 20th century is divided before and after Bob. Personally he was a very dear friend, colleague, and mentor. Condolences to his loving long term partner.
