The video is posted at the top of this story, but Scott Oake announced tonight that he is retiring at the end of the playoffs. He will host one more After Hours, next Saturday in San Jose. Lots more will come to celebrate his incredible legacy, on and off the ice

Now Scott Oake is telling us he is retiring. Scott is the ultimate interviewer…conversational, prepared, funny. He made it look easy and it isn’t. As a friend, I know he has lots on his plate away from hockey rinks. But I will miss him. Big loss for HNIC and all hockey fans

More than a half-century on the job now, I learned early on not to root for teams, players, coaches, managers. That said, you'd have a long, long search to find a better person than CBJ coach Rick Bowness.

The retiring Joe Bowen was the conduit to Leafs Legion, a voice everybody loved. He made hockey fun. He was so good at his job if you were listening on radio it always sounded like a great game when it could have been pedestrian. That is a major skill. One of the all-time best.
