I’m so sad about losing my blue tick. (And smug, because now all the non-blue tick people are the cool ones). Warning: This tweet may include one or more lies.

If one more clothing company sends me an email about investment pieces. An investment generates a stream of income, or appreciates in value. A Hermes bag may be an investment. A jersey blazer is not. Unless it really is the reason you got that high paying job. #alwaysaneconomist

Looking for advice: For analysing qualitative data, is #NVivo the best option? Or is there better software available? Data is interviews, notes, concept maps etc. Academic Chatter™ #researchhelp #academic #researcher #researchsupport Dr Raul Pacheco-Vega

I hate this narrative that Arsenal bottled it. They have pushed one of the PL’s greatest ever teams all the way, and done it with a young coach and young players who finished 5th last season. It’s nothing but a success. They fell short, they’ll be stronger for it

Got up at 6. Went to London. Watched #Arsenal. Sat in my seat (since 2008). Saw some friends. We did not play well. Got back to catch the 7.30 train (just). Will be home by 10.30. Have a tricky week ahead. Worth every moment.

As an #Arsenal fan, I’m clear that the ‘Made it Entertaining’ trophy, the ‘Put the Pressure on until April’ cup, & the ‘Pushed Them Hard for 9 Months’ plate, are all much more satisfying than the ‘No Fucking Chance at all’ vase that we have held for the last 15 or so years.

On the train home, after a lovely day. It was a party atmosphere at the Emirates. Roy Keane would be disgusted (because we won nothing) but it was very lovely. Arteta reminded us to enjoy the journey and treasure the company. I’m paraphrasing, but it’s not a bad mantra for life.

Watching #glastonbury2023, a bit embarrassed that I’ve never been. When I was young, I had babies. When I was older, my teenage/adult children were there. Now it looks hard work. I’m an HM Bateman cartoon “The Gen X-er* who’s never been to a festival” */ boomer, but sod that.

On a train down to London. The train manager comes through and calls every passenger ‘sir’. (It’s very male in this coach). He gets to me and calls me ‘love’… I’d be ok with that, if he’d called all the others sweetheart.

It’s been a tough week. I had an op. All ok, but I’m battered and knackered*. However, the tree is decorated, Christmas ice-cream is made & I have the #StrictlyFinal on. It’s not a bad life. *If I ever write an autobiography “Battered and Knackered” is in my top 3 titles.

Usually, Giles Coren makes me smile on a Saturday morning. Sometimes, he makes me laugh. Occasionally, he makes me go ‘Meh’. Today, he made me cry.

I’m going to spend 9pm-10pm crying, for the next six Sundays. For Anne, for Jane, for Cromwell and for the genius that was Hilary Mantel. (Who made me love Cromwell). #TheMirrorAndTheLight
