Why are well layed Devon hedges full of crooks? These forked stakes help pull the steeper (called pleachers outside Devon) tight down onto the bank. Outside Devon, stakes are used to hold the pleachers up, but Devon the crooks pull the hedge down! 📷Tom Hynes

Today is #WorldHearingDay. A huge number of us have poor hearing but don’t want it confirmed due to #HearingAid stigma. Let’s move beyond that. You don’t know what you’re missing. ReSound have a free quick test you can do at home with headphones: resound.com/en/online-hear…

My situation is a bit different as I’m profoundly #deaf #HoH so totally dependent on my ReSound #HearingAids but, please. If you have a #HearingLoss, try some. The hidden things you can suddenly hear, and easy joy you gain from them will blow away any fears over stigma.

TB from a farmer… I will no doubt get some hate for this but i’m past caring. We rear cattle to the best of our ability with health and welfare a paramount.Friday/Monday was our 6 month TB test. We are in a hotspot, it’s been found in the wildlife and it’s in cattle around us /1

The Government's botching of the new environmental farm payment scheme is driving farmers out of business. How stupid and irresponsible to design a scheme meant to protect and enhance our environment but to deliver it to so badly that it does the exact opposite.

350 producers have left the industry since October: 4.5% of the total according to AHDB Dairy. We’ve lost ≈1,500 dairy farms since 2019. Well past time Defra UK acted on fairness in the supply chain Thérèse Coffey Sir Mark Spencer 🥛 farminguk.com/news/fall-in-n…

You need a doctor once a year maybe and a fireman once in a lifetime, if you’re unlucky. But you need a farmer three times a day. Wise words from Kaleb Cooper.

Here. Have a field in May, full of flowers, has been grazed twice this season. Growing beef and biodiversity! Amazing!!! Who knew it was possible… And all we had to do to get this from a fairly dull pasture was change the grazing schedule and manage the thistle and bracken.

Today is my #DeathDay. 18 years ago today I went through a car windscreen while out cycling. Major trauma. Airlifted by Devon Air Ambulance to Royal Devon NHS, heart stopped twice in the air. They say that only the good die young. I've done it twice 😋 daat.org/Blog/an-accden…

Fleeces selling at £0.20p each. Contract shearing £1.40. Millions of buildings need insulating. People need green jobs. What is going wrong in this chain?

Last night we employed our humane mousetrap for the first time. At last, caught the audacious miscreant who has been nibbling my stretching mat and press-up handles in the garage. Released safely in a neighbouring field.
