People who follow the news are more likely to agree with statements such as ‘Most people care only about themselves.’ They more often believe that we as individuals are helpless to better the world. They are more likely to be stressed and depressed. /1

This is an exceptional opportunity for an exceptional person, with big shoes to fill - a truly wonderful organisation - and wishing Miranda McKearney OBE all the best in her exciting new chapter!

I feature SuperKind in my book 'Children as Change Makers' & am proud to be part of their advisory board - they place children's agency at the heart of leading social change & help make complex topics really accessible.... Work in a primary school - then take a look 👇👇👇

Absolutely love this, so many of my favourite things together - my former primary school and regular visitor to @LedbytheWild and ACT. Great choice ACT, & so well deserved Brabourne CEP School 👏

Love seeing my PhD students publish - this article by Taylah Law University of Kent is excellent, exploring the increasing reliance of small rural primary schools on voluntary activity tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… #RuralSchools #PrimaryEducation #VoluntaryAction

Wonderful to hear Bridget Phillipson committing to the role of universities in communities and seeking to support the HE sector and stop it being a 'political battleground', as well as wider commitment to early years and schools #SecretaryofStateforEducationLiveEvent

Love this thread! In my upcoming book 'Children as Change Makers' I discuss the importance of an education system & civil society which engages children & young people in community organising & campaigning - this is how real change is achieved!

Yesterday, five people were imprisoned under the draconian new Tory laws for between 4 and 5 years, for entirely peaceful protest. Longer than many offenders get for major violent crimes. My column this week calls for Labour to repeal those laws. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

I don't post pics of my children here often but today, well today was amazing. Today my youngest 'graduated' primary. This kid has bashed through SO many challenges, we've gone from school refusal, to soaring, and the secret... teachers who simply loved and cared whole heartedly.

Loving this by Amy Schiller - brilliantly positions the problems of consumption, capitalist driven philanthropy being positioned to 'off-set the ruthlessness of the market', & the potential solutions - well worth a read for anyone interested in social justice & social change.

Agree so much with this. To stare the science on climate change in the face and *not* take a side isn’t neutral; it’s deceptive. It deceives the public- who trust scientists- into complacency. I left my last job largely because of this.

So wonderful to be back at #VSVR24 for the 30th voluntary sector and volunteering research conference. Kicking off with fabulous talk from Clare Saunders, and the panel on organising for change. VSRjournal VSSN

As a parent of a neurodiverse child, this rings so true. The pressure on parents to navigate the path between an inadequate education system & your child's needs is a never-ending battle. You have to be fierce & you have to turn up every day ready to fight. It's exhausting.

Democracy is crumbling. Children are watching. And philanthropy is still playing it safe. We don’t need more cake sales. We need civic fire. It’s time to shift from charity to justice — & put young people at the heart of democratic renewal. alliancemagazine.org/blog/engaging-…
