The Botanicon t-shirts are an awesome idea for making new connections between people who work in different areas and departments. Ask me about.... Thank you Izzy Cole for wonderful illustration design 🤩

Somewhat relieved to be sat with two computer scientists today discussing how they can't understand OneDrive and SharePoint and don't understand where files disappear to in Office 365. I feel less stupid.

Aristotle was the first to notice honeybees dancing. In 1927 Karl von Frisch decoded the waggle. How it works was "explained" by MV Srinivasan AM FRS in the 1990s. Except Laura Luebbert, PhD found his papers are junk. A 🧵 about her discovery & our report: arxiv.org/abs/2405.12998 1/

It took me SEVEN years to figure out that you can save a ggplot as a vectorized .svg file ggsave("file.svg"). The svg file can be opened on powerpoint and it will be completely vectorized, even text are still recognized as text boxes! No more recreating plots on illustrator!!!!!

🌡️ As global temperatures rise, will we be able to continue growing both the food and the trees we rely on? These two vital resources may soon be in direct competition, as the regions of the world suitable for growing crops shift northwards. New study from Department of Plant Sciences 👇

Just heard the sad news that Professor Enid MacRobbie died last night. A titan of plant biology. A very clever scientist and very supportive of young researchers. One of the founders of the field of plant electrophysiology research.

Just found out that Bolton FC ground is called the "Toughsheet Community Stadium". 😀😀😀😀 It must be toughsheet watching Bolton.

Lynne talked to so many circadian biologists. Me included and it was so much fun. Glad to see lettuce in there. But once again guardian science lets us (SIC) down by calling lettuce inanimate. Homer Simpson's favourite phrase comes to mind
