It takes most people 11 years or even longer to become a UK citizen. Nora must wait until she is 73 years old. Long waits, high costs and insecure job access cause destitution and ill-health. We need a timely, affordable & fair pathway to citizenship. #OurHome #RefugeeWeek

Everyone needs a safe place to live. But the immigration system pushes people into homelessness. Together with Homeless Link and over 100 orgs, we're urging Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer & Ed Davey to act on this issue, to make sure no one suffers the trauma of homelessness. ⬇️

Next week the UK will elect its next government At the same time millions are struggling to get by. Record numbers of people in our capital are facing homelessness. The next government must act ambitiously – beyond what is currently proposed in the main parties’ manifestos. 1/3

🚨BREAKING: The Government will remove 'inadmissibility' conditions. This means that people who have been kept in limbo for months and years on end, including those who were cruelly threatened with removal to Rwanda, will have their claims processed. This is great news. 1/🧵

Immigration raids sow terror in our communities. They’re racialized and discriminatory – targeting anyone who “appears” not to be British – and above all violent. And they punish people who are, very often, being exploited by their employers. 🧵 independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Scrapping the two-child limit alone would have little impact for some of the poorest households if the benefit cap remains in place. Both policies must be abolished to restore the vital link between households' needs and the support available. ifs.org.uk/news/abolishin…
