Firefighters suffered verbal abuse both last night, by a man while putting out a garden fire in South Shields & Sunday night, by a group of youths when tackling a grass fire in Newbiggin Hall. This is not acceptable. Our crews deserve respect. #ProtectTheProtectors #StopAttacks

Dry or wet Riser in a building enables FF's to get water to hard to reach places,crews came across riser inlets blocked by scaffolding. Do not obstruct any riser inlet or outlet. These facilities allow our crews quick access which could mean the difference between life or death.

Our West Denton fire cadets had a great time helping out at St Oswald's Hospice Christmas market last weekend! Just one example of how joining the cadets gives young people the chance to develop their communication and leadership skills while giving back to their community.
