So this is a good time to announce that I’ve recently joined the image processing team for Chandra Observatory at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, helping get pictures like these ready for official release. These are a few I’ve worked on!

This latest image from the JWST is of a barred spiral galaxy 17 million light-years away. It combines near IR and mid IR wavelengths. The first is a combination of both, second is just mid IR, and third is just near IR. What's your favorite? For me, it's the mid IR here 🤩

Looks like my Io paper dropped today! We used a similar approach to my Mimas paper from yesterday, except searching for a sub-surface magma ocean rather than one of water. We find that it is unlikely that Io has a magma ocean! 🌋🙅 Open-access link: dx.doi.org/10.1029/2023GL…
