We delivered her letter this week with our own joint Alcohol and Families Alliance (AFA) letter to the minister Andrea Leadsom pleading with government to reinstate the children of alcohol-dependent parents strategy which was tragically abolished in 2022.

The government has extended its freeze on alcohol duties. This will make alcohol more affordability and will cost lives. #cheapalcoholkills "If the government was serious about long-term economic stability, it simply would not make such a short-term, headline-grabbing decision"

The latest alcohol death data shows there were a shocking 10,048 alcohol-specific deaths in 2022. It is important to remember that these only make up around a third of all alcohol-related deaths, which stand at over 25,000. An alcohol strategy is needed more than ever.

Right now, more people than ever before are dying in the UK from alcohol related causes. Nacoa has seen a huge rise in calls from children relating to bereavement. Despite the urgent need, government has cut its entire strategy for children affected. 🔗 nacoa.org.uk/record-uk-alco…

It’s time for a new way of talking about alcohol. One which broadens understanding of the many ways alcohol causes harm and which builds a movement for change. Because these harms are not inevitable. Today, after three years of extensive research and development, we’re excited
