There’s a farming crisis in Britain. ▪️Over 6,000 farm businesses closed since Labour came into power. ▪️Supermarkets undercutting farmers with low payments. ▪️Cheap imported food putting British farmers a competitive disadvantage. ▪️Solar panels plastered over thousands

Right now, in barns and equipment sheds across the American Midwest, farmers are making the most consequential decision of this war. Not generals. Not senators. Farmers. At $683 per ton urea, corn economics have collapsed. Nitrogen is the single largest input cost for corn

Sadly, the UK Climate Change Committee are using incorrect data and going after a soft target with no idea of the consequences.

Veg at 4p might look like a bargain, but it sends a dangerous message: that food has no value. Nobody blames shoppers for taking a deal when times are tight. But when produce is sold for pennies, the real cost usually lands with the farmer. #BackBritishFarming

This is massively disingenuous. Lamb costs have soared because input costs to farmers have gone up. The number of abattoirs has significantly dropped…and supermarkets are setting prices that fleece consumers.

A great video from a friend, Charles. We have struggled to make words fit but Charles has done it well. Comparing the eradication approach to TB to the eradication of problems in Humans. Please listen, please share. We as farmers need people to understand how mad this is. Tag

It may be symbolic, but that is not the argument. Renewables may well power the grid for a few hours on a sunny day with a gale blowing. The argument is simply that fossil fuels will be part of our grid for another 30 years or more.

The nut zero zealotry of Ed Miliband. A new occasional series. [feel free to add]. Fertiliser prices and shortages are soaring because the petrochemical industries of the Gulf states are major global suppliers but the Strait of Hormuz, through which they export, is closed. Not

Wiltshire farmer Ann Maidment, 42, has brilliantly exposed the “ridiculous” government waste licensing system, by registering her prize cow Beau Vine as an official rubbish disposer. It took just five minutes online and cost £184. The Environment Agency approved it instantly.
