I have a lot to say... More like a huge win I want to share for anyone who cares to listen. This took a while, quite a number of months...infact, stretching back to about 3years. Somehow, I believe this is going to change the outlook of abuse nationwide...and in time, worldwide.

Tell me, if you had a chance to somehow put an end to child abuse in Nigeria, would you give it a shot? Would you attempt to participate in it? Even if it is a little...? Let me share this tiny bit of story with you... Don't worry, I am not crashing out...yet.

A couple of years ago, I stayed somewhere in Akute, as a bachelor, a room selfcon, respectable environ, a bit of cash in the bank...at least enough to feed comfortably. I worked at a telecoms, so it was always on staggered shifts. I had this great family as neighbors too...

They struggled a bit, but they still survive with their 2 young daughters...both between 7 and 10years. They also had this weird looking male relative who never really smiled. It wasn't my business though...or so I thought. Until one strange demonic Monday evening...

Started like every normal day, until 6:42pm, I was almost at my door, from work. I heard screams, kinda like harrowing streaks from one of the girls, & the other was subtly crying. I got curious, I knocked, the weird looking man opened, all sweaty, my heart skipped several beats.

I managed to stammer, "is everything okay?"... "Yes, they are serving punishments", still with that mean looking face... Apparently their parents had gone out to work. I was still concerned, however I decided to leave reluctantly...a move I regret till this day.

The screams reduced after I left. A week later, one of the girls committed suicide, a girl who was barely 10...a month later, the other girl went missing...she was never seen till I left that area..almost immediately after, the weird looking fellow committed suicide too. Bizarre

I swore never to leave my kids (if I ever had) alone after that day. Several years afterwards, now with amazing kids in that age range...my peace is sometimes disturbed when they aren't within my reach. Countless thoughts going through my mind...until...

According to UNICEF, 6 in 10 Nigerian children up to 18years old have gone through one type of abuse or another (especially sexual and physical)... If there is a proper reporting channel that directly links to the guardian, then this rate is bound to reduce by 10% in 3yrs.
