Today we welcomed Christina Riley from Akros taking us through their platform REVEAL, a geospatial tool for disease surveillance data. INFORM Africa IHV Nigeria IHV

Today, the AKROS team, represented by Christina Riley visited IHV Nigeria, Campus and started a 2 days workshop on using the REVEAL platform.

The REVEAL platform is an open source surveillance tool, designed to help African communities plan and track the delivery of Healthcare services to the "last mile". IHVN IRCE DS-I Africa #bigdata #datasciece #geospatialtools

During the workshop, Christiana delved into the REVEAL PLATFORM, demonstrating to the participants how real-time satellite imaging can be used to drive preparedness response by leveraging pandemic datastreams.

It can also be useful in translating scientific needs into innovative digital tools and data systems. It has the potential to develop local capacity for data-driven decision-making.

She also discussed the successes of AKROS's past projectsand the ways in which their current project, GDRS, and the INFORM Africa project overlap.

By using geospatial techniques, Akros seeks to provide answers to certain important questions, such as: Can we combine geospatial mapping with genomic data to better equip routine surveillance systems?
