It's still early — right before sunrise — when Ashe and the soldiers he's been assigned head out for their mission. There are trade routes to protect.

They never make it to their destination. A spy planted within Garreg Mach must have told the enemy all about their plans. It's a bloodbath. A cold and calculated massacre.

Not a single soldier makes it back to the monastery.

Word of what's happened finally reaches the monastery and they immediately dispatch all available men and women to recover the bodies. It's a dark day for the Kingdom army.

The losses are heavy and among them is the aspiring knight and general Ashe Ubert.

His body is found among the others, burnt beyond recognition. Next to it, his trusty bow. It gives bitter confirmation to what many have feared: Ashe is dead. Just another life lost in this senseless war.

( i've decided to bring him back! i'll make his return a plot point though. stay tuned. :3c )

No one's ever come to his rescue. He supposes that's only natural. The Kingdom Army *did* decide to march to Enbarr. And Dimitri, as he was, wouldn't allow protest... He's resigned himself to this fate, sad as it was. At least he knows his siblings safe this way.
