Minister for Finance Govt of Azad Jammu & Kashmir @majidkhanPTIMLA closed Day 2 of #UNDPinPakistan's training on Gender Mainstreaming in SDGs Programming in #Muzaffarabad, where farzana bari sensitized reps from health, education, IT, P&DD, & other govt depts on gender inclusive methodologies.

In 3rd annual NEC Sub Committee on #SDGs meeting chaired by Ahsan Iqbal today, Pakistan's progress on SDGs in past 1 year was reviewed, way forward was discussed with reps of Federal, Provincial, Area government SDGs Sections/Units & National SDGs Dashboard was approved.

#UNDPinPakistan hosted the Govt of Azad Jammu & Kashmir to explore partnerships around #SDGs. ACS Fayyaz Ali Abbasi Fayyaz Ali Abbasi and ARR Ammara Durrani discussed policy priorities on: ✅ Area development, ✅ Economic growth, ✅ Digital transformation, ✅ Gender equality.

Women Development Department Govt of Azad Jammu & Kashmir took a step further to provide safe travel facility to women & girls and for achieving #SDG5, #GenderEquality by launching AJ&K's first ever women only bus service in #Muzaffarabad City. #Agenda2030

To accelerate the achievement of #Agenda2030, P&DD Govt of Azad Jammu & Kashmir directed all departments to include #SDGs checklist (goals, targets & indicators) in PC-Is to align development budgets & sectoral investments with #SDGs. PC- I will also be reviewed & scrutinized through SDGs lens.

First round of research consultations for #NHDR2023 on #DigitalTransformation across 🇵🇰 are now underway! This week, we met with students and faculty of The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to learn about their aspirations for greater digital investments in their education, work and communities.

Strong support among students for a digital transition: "We have to adopt digital with all its challenges. It’s saving us rental & transport costs. We will need to figure out how to fix our personal learning challenges & support our aged population in adopting digital tech."

What are the limitations to online learning? “Attention span is a big issue in online learning – internet speed slows down our pace and breaks our momentum.” Wider access to faster internet throughout AJK has been a key demand among The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir students. #NHDR2023

Tech affordability is a top concern among students who freelance to support their education & diversify their skill-set. "We would need PKR 100,000 for a good laptop & additional monetary support to start a freelancing course. This is a lot just to get a head start." #NHDR2023

Digital inequalities across 🇵🇰 geography in full view: "A person in Islamabad using internet can do something in 1 hour and it takes me 4 hours. My internet data runs out and this impacts client trust and relations, giving me a very low rating on freelancing sites." #NHDR2023

#NHDR2023 Team met Govt of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Director-General, AJK Information Technology Board Dr. Khalid Rafique in #Muzaffarabad to discuss ongoing #digitaltransformation projects and scope of future IT initiatives to reform governance, business modeling and human development outcomes in AJK.

Next stop: Women University of AJ&K Bagh! We met with students and faculty of Women University of AJ&K Bagh as part of #NHDR2023 research consultations to speak about the impact of online discourse on young women's political expression, social media usage, personal safety & community participation.

In Bagh, #NHDR2023 team also led private sector engagements with CareCloud, formerly known as MTBC, to understand the challenges that come with providing quality healthcare IT solutions across areas of connectivity, data security, tech acquisition & product development.

At #UNDPinPakistan's LPAC Meeting, Officer In-Charge Aliona Niculita & ARR Ammara Durrani presented Programme Documents for SDGs Plus (2023-2027) & Policy Innovation Programme (2023-2027) to senior Government of Pakistan officials & Provincial Govts for enduring partnership on #SDGs.

Meeting Syeda Asma Andrabi from the PM AJ&K office was great. Under the direction of Shah Nasir Khan and UNCT, the UN looking forward to supporting AJ&K Govt. under the UNSDCF.
