Feeling heartbroken for the women of Georgia and Alabama right now. It's completely incomprehensible to me how a government can punish women with 99 years in prison for being raped, while men who impregnate them get off scott free. It’s lose-lose for women and gain-gain for men.

Ultimately, this is about women’s power. When women are in control of their sexuality, it threatens a core element underpinning right-wing ideology: patriarchy. It’s a brutal form of oppression to seize control of the 1 essential thing a person should command: their own body.
