Today, in commemoration of #SaferInternetDay, we partnered with Maendeleo Foundation to kickstart online safety training activities in schools with today's session at Suubi Primary School. Students learnt about how to protect themselves while online. #StaySafeOnline Internet Society

The Parliament of Uganda Dep Speaker Thomas Tayebwa raised concerns in the current Internet ecosystem including the low GNI from big tech, Internet tax issues, urban-rural digital divide, and Africa's small share in the global digital economy. He stressed that urgent action is needed!
The Hon. Hon Sarah Opendi, Chairperson of the Uganda Parliamentary Internet Governance Forum (UPIGF), launched the UPIGF with Parliament of Uganda Dep Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, Ministry of ICT&NG Hon.Dr.Chris Baryomunsi, and fellow MPs, marking a commitment to strengthening Internet policy and legislation.
While Uganda has numerous AI innovations currently, Dr. Nakatumba-Nabende, Head of The Makerere AI and Data Science Research Lab, while at #UIGF2025, notes that AI law complexities (bias, ethics etc) require local tech partnerships & agile governance, while considering varying global legal approaches. #IGF
