Did you know? AIM 4-3-14b says that ATC will assume turbine-powered aircraft are ready for takeoff when they reach the runway unless advised otherwise. That was news to me when learning turboprops!

Best landing tip I received that I haven't heard anyone else talk about: Watch the birds. Birds are masters at managing their energy. The more we can fly like birds, the less we'll just be piloting an airplane and the more we'll actually know how to fly. There's a difference.

If talking with Air Traffic Control has ever been intimidating or discouraging for you, just remember that becoming a pilot is learning a new language. It’s english but might as well be french. Be patient with yourself. You're just building fluency.

Interested in your opinion... what are the qualities of your favorite flight instructor? My favorites are the encouraging ones. The guys at TacAero are fantastic.

For someone that wants to watch 3 hours of Netflix at night but says they don't have time to be a pilot, we either need to "change the goal or change the plan." Wisdom from Ali Abdaal

Okay guys... be honest. Of all the hazardous attitudes, which one(s) are you most commonly catching yourself with? For me it's macho and invulnerability.

Airplane Academy (@airplaneacademy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is what's hard about go/no-go decisions: If there are a lot of issues with your flight, usually any one of those issues (or even a couple of them) aren't enough to cancel the flight on their own, so at some point you have to decide how much is TOO much.

Hazardous attitudes of pilots (per the FAA): - Anti-Authority - Impulsivity - Invulnerability - Macho - Resignation Be honest... which one gets you the most? For me it's invulnerability with a pinch 🤏 of macho.

I've often wondered how the worst accidents actually happen... like "father of four crashes plane into side of mountain at night in thunderstorms" feels so wild to me. But the more I fly, the more I that Safety Slips in Small Stages.

Got to check off a bucket list item for me landing on a river sand bar (now I want to land on much smaller ones). It's one thing simulating short field stuff... The adrenaline hits in a whole new way when it's for real.

Let's be real -- Go/No-Go decisions can be hard when there are multiple factors at play. Usually any one of those reasons aren't bad enough on their own to ground you, but the combination will. Knowing when to say "that's too much" can be tough sometimes.

Safety Slips in Small Stages. It's usually not one big ugly decision that will get you hurt in aviation. It's the series of small bad decisions that get you into a bad spot.

Flashback to one of the most fun days ever for me in aviation... landing on a river sandbar. Now I want to go land on something much shorter but even this had my heart going! Thanks TacAero !
