Wrote this on the human face of cuts to social support, how the Govt’s budget forms part of an austerity programme (including why we shouldn’t accept cuts are economically necessary or like a household budget), & what a progressive budget would look like: thepress.co.nz/nz-news/350302….

And we remind the ministers - disabled people globally are on the frontlines of climate breakdown and environmental injustices. So make sure to back our disabled leadership when figuring out how to adapt as there's no climate justice without us ✊2/2

Sooo many cool cats at the March for Nature today & also thinking of other disabled friends who couldn't be there. ngā Haumi from Waikato Uni did the meanest speech, if I find will post - but about interconnected struggles for decolonisation and liberation. #ToitūTeTaiao

Hi! Hon.Shane Jones MP I’m one of the proud eco-rabbles that’s organised the blockade of the Energy Resources Taranaki Forum and an more than happy to have a conversation with you about why I think the Oil & Gas Ban should stay in place ☺️ newshub.co.nz/home/politics/…

The Govt will reverse the ban on oil and gas exploration. Terrible news for many key industries in NZ which rely on a stable climate and safe pollution-free land/water/air. Playing yoyo politics with offshore oil also detrimental for renewables investment to keep our lights on.

1/2 The cuts to disability funding were one more reminder to disabled people & whānau of being devalued, seen as $ units rather than as people. And that's just one out of many cuts impacting our community. thespinoff.co.nz/society/12-06-…

2/2 We know interdependence intimately. For those needing the most attentive & specialised care, respite cuts risk burning out families & more chance of disabled ppl separated from them living in institutional residential settings. This bc of political decisions

Solid analysis here outlining the evidence demonstrating why "harsher penalties and tougher punishments" actually work against the goal of reducing and preventing offending. rnz.co.nz/news/on-the-in…

Sometimes inclusion doesn't go beyond the sign in the window. This edition looks at how UK and US schemes to promote employment aren't working, and thinks through making inclusion real. With Debbie Foster Áine (they/them) et al disabilitydebrief.org/debrief/over-c…

This Govt is taking us backwards by ditching the subsidy which would've ensured all disabled ppl can be paid a min wage along w/ everyone else - the entire point of a MINIMUM is it's the floor w/o any exceptions. Appreciate Ricardo Menéndez advocacy here nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/as…

The cruelty of an immigration system set on separating families who have lived here for decades and whose members are deeply reliant on each other is immense. They should be able to stay together here w/o fear of deportation or recrimination. rnz.co.nz/news/national/…, 10:03 AM

We join over 150 organisations in calling on the government to scrap its harmful Treaty Principles Bill. This Bill doesn't respect the collective status of Māori as people of the land here nor recognise the ongoing impacts of colonisation. medium.com/actionstation/…

1/ VICTORY We're so happy for and proud of the Vasquez family who were forced to advocate relentlessly over nine years for their residency due to our ableist immigration requirements. The road is not an easy one. stuff.co.nz/nz-news/350420…
