The way the right has grasped onto an anti-war demonstration as an excuse to downplay the sheer horror that was Charlottesville is honestly one of the biggest alarm bells about where our politics are at.

So this is where we are at as a society... Abortions are safe and simple procedures and the fact that a hostile state is prolonging suffering of women in crisis then forcing them to be extracted via helicopter and foot the bill is beyond fucked up

doing this work for almost ten years has taught me how little anti-abortion people care about the health and well-being of pregnant people. today made it clearer than ever how much distaste they have towards pregnant folks and how little they care if they stay alive.

There is no role for the state in these decisions. I walked through fire for my girls & I would do it again in a heartbeat, but that is a decision for every person to make on their own. If I didn't want children so desperately, I would have made a different, reasonable choice.

This really puts into perspective just how inaccessible abortion is for so many. Even in “haven” states.
