'Abortion travel is regional, and people from the deep South are traveling long distances to obtain care,' says Greer Donley. While OH's amendment may not impact Allegheny County, clinics still receive patients from neighboring states w/ restrictive laws. ow.ly/x1wO50Q5UqU

NEVER make the Supreme Court out to have more power than it actually has. Yes, it ended Roe. But it did not end abortion. Far from it. carole joffe and I explore in this piece at Slate. /1 slate.com/news-and-polit…

In the Dobbs decision Sam Alito told us “women are not without electoral or political power” and it turns out that might have been the only thing that was right about the decision.

Abortion rights groups are on the verge of their 7th state-level referendum victory post-Roe -- this time in Ohio, despite Republicans controling basically all the levers of power.
They plan to build on this unbroken streak next year in Arizona, Florida, Missouri and beyond.

Remember if abortion rights wins in Ohio tonight it will be despite tens of millions of dollars and months of attacks on democracy. Even a 51% win would be INCREDIBLE

I've seen enough: in a victory for the pro-choice side, Ohio Issue 1, a measure to establish a right to an abortion in the state constitution, passes.

As an Ohioan, even knowing polling, and even after my rural, Tea Party-backing uncle said 'of course' he was a 'Yes' on 1, I am stunned by some of the county-level numbers coming in. Hamilton's current 75-25 isn't that surprising — but 58% for in Clermont & 57% in Warren is to me

Polls are officially open, Ohio! Time to get to the ballot box and 1 to put women and families back in charge of their health care decisions. Let’s do this! 💪

I agree with Chris Geidner's here - this throws a monkeywrench into the mife case. And makes it less likely it's all resolved by the end of this Supreme Court term. Which, on the one hand, is great for abortion pills because the stay remains. But could be a longer-term risk.

The Fifth Circuit is hearing arguments in Deanda v. Becerra this morning. A Christian father doesn't want his three daughters to be able to get contraception without his permission and is challenging Title X on that basis.

Matty Kacsmaryk already ruled in his favor of course.

I'm skeptical of the standing here, but I admit I don't fully understand how the states have standing in the Washington case brought by blue states. Doesn't Allen v. Wright stand in the way? /1
