Testing some new Ag Tech gear. Progressive Agriculture Network Hoist Car WiFi. Twin aerials take low cellular signal (often not good enuf for voice call) & unit creates local WiFi network. Will give it a run over some very low signals strength areas across SA & Vic. I've used Cel-Fi

Hooray and celebrations. Have just swapped my last 3G modem module to 4G in all my older Adcon telemetry units - 305 in all. Using the 4G modem Porosity Services & I developed, it's been a long slog from Esperance (WA) to Wilmington (SA) to Elmore (Vic). Done before my Aug 31 deadline

A couple of in-crop EnviroPro SoilProbes soil moisture probe installs this week. I really love the challenge of getting them done with minimal impact on the surrounding crop so that they deliver quality data immediately

Afew soil moisture probe graphs explain the current state of play in SA. 1. Stacked graph, wheat roots active at 90cm, Paskeville. 2. Summed graph, same site with previous 2 yrs in Mid & Top panel, close to hitting the 'Driest Ever' bottom. 3. Stacked graph, only had infiltration

Been doing some upgrades to my Yorke Peninsula Vert. Temp. Difference inversion monitoring network. Fitting high spec thermocouple sensors (measures to 3 decimal pl.). Have a new dashboard display coming shortly to assist with spray application decision making.

Crop conditions & prospects have gone to shizer in a fair proportion of SA's Mid North & elsewhere. Please Lord, may that rain band thicken up and slow down.

Have been giving the NetworkHoist Progressive Agriculture 4G cellular WiFi unit a test out. I know intimately the spots on Yorke Peninsula where Telstra signal is too poor to stream data or make a voice call; for 25yrs I've driven across it and have 100+ telemetry units logging data

The stonefruit is now 10YO in our espaliered orchard. Have learned a lot about how to train branches, got a few things wrong along the way Had near zero flowers & fruit last year, but been altering my pruning technique in past two seasons. Massive positive response this year,

So early morning start for me, headed to Vic for a few days work. Installed some moisture probes at Jeparit in vetch & barley, minimal moisture down to ~70cm. Then a probe for dale boyd in an irrigated Kangaroo grass project. Made it to Elmore, best crops I've seen all day,

Continuing to expand my Vertical Temperature Difference inversion monitoring network. Around Murrayville near SA/Vic border. Happy with my 10m tower design, easy to erect. These have been put alongside existing weather stations. Had a massive 7.85°C diff last night. The data

Was an honour to be invited by Grain Producers SA to a 'Parliamentary Friends of Grain luncheon with Clare Scriven MLC & SA industry guru's at Parliament house today. Aside from a lovely feed, was reassuring to have interaction with our MPs & sit in the chamber for a bit of Q-time

Home last night after a 2,600km trip thru SA & Vic doing a few new weather station installs & maintenance. Pretty sad to see the state of grain crops & pasture. Certainly the best around Elmore. Was particularly happy with the performance of the NetworkHoist Car WiFi unit,
