This weekend the Manor FFA Horse Evaluation team had the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania FFA at the Eastern States Exposition(The Big E) for their FFA weekend in Springfield, MA. The team placed FIRST as a team in the Eastern Region! #PMHS #FFA #greatdaytobeacomet

Vet Science I had their second annual dog show today! Each student made a life sized dog and wrote up a biography for the dog breed to be shared at the show. We talked about each class of dog and each breed before it was exhibited!

🩶The agronomy team earned a silver award as a team in national competition 🩶🩶🩶Nate Frey, Weston Shertzer, and Chase Vinson earned individual silver awards. 🏅Ryan Brenneman earned an individual gold, as well as earning the opportunity to become an apprentice CCA

Thank you CaterpillarInc for hosting a Caterpillar Careers Workshop at the National FFA Convention. It was informative to see what opportunities you unlock for students and to hear what skills are needed for today's workforce for me to implement into my classroom!

Vet Sci had a crime scene set up for Halloween. Students had to go through the scene & get different measurement, perform parts of a necropsy to determine cause of death. We then talked about a necropsy report & biosecurity tools used to stop disease spread. #PMvetscience

Students learned about the specific elements and compounds used to make the flux on their electrodes.We looked at the commendation of elements and how the they give specific uses for electrodes. We then made edible electrodes for students to eat before going into the welding lab!

Vet Sci I looked at a case study about my horse to diagnosis the type of skin tumor he has. We then looked at the fur around the tumor compared to fur in other sections of the body to see the damage that occurs when tumors are growing even if benign.

Vet Sci I looked a case study from Koby the dog who had a skin infection.We read through the vet notes & cytology report to diagnosis him with several bacterial infections. We then made edible skin profile to talk through the layers of his skin & how the skin can fight infection

Vet Sci attended a career exploration event hosted by DTL. We completed the following rotations 🐄 physical exam 🩸 reading to see nutrition absorption 🔬 research facilities 🌽 learned about cattle feeds 🦴 leaned about pathology Toured UPENN vet hospital & dairy barn

Vet Sci II made replicas of working lungs.We saw how when the bottle pressure changed it forced air in or out of the lungs.Once we learned the anatomy of the respiratory system students were takes with simulating a diseases on their models to see how the physiology changes.

Vet Sci II has been doing Agriscience Fair February.Students have been working in pairs or individually to complete research related to animal science.Animal production started their biosecurity certifications! We cultured 3 different farming scenarios and will check back Friday!

Animal Production and Management started their digestion unit but making murals of the different species digestive tracts!

Ani sci dried horse feeds to calculate the dry matter %.We then made predictions on which feeds would have the higher fat content. We lit the feeds on fire to calculate the change temperature of the water after 180 seconds to then calculate the energy content of the feeds.
