Once upon a time (recently), I was told “Teachers shouldn’t question researchers.” Grateful to be able to share my opinion on why that couldn’t be further from the truth. We need to be in this together. 🙏🏽 EdSurge

‘In curriculum, the methods of assessment should not be the starting point for curriculum’. Wise words from Ruth Ashbee and one of the things we often get wrong in curriculum design.

Came across this video on my phone, taken 18 months ago when we started teaching reading (SSP) at home. See how she struggles to keep her eyes on the words and control the impulse to guess (a side-effect of multi-cueing instruction). Can’t believe she is actually a reader now.

Go beyond thinking it’s just mental/physical health divide. It’s physical, mental, social, psychological, intellectual, cultural, occupational, spiritual. Feed and nurture all these domains.

Fountas & Pinnell What if the best approach to early literacy programming for that 20% of kids you don't care about turned out to be the best approach to early literacy programming for ALL kids? #AskFandP Fountas & Pinnell

Liedloff’s “The Continuum Concept” is quite possibly, the most profound books I’ve ever encountered. I came across it as a first time mother, and have made time to re-read it during those middle-of-the-night breastfeeding marathons each child’s newborn stage has brought.
