Constantly remind yourself what’s important to you. Write it down, read it daily. Refuse to do anything in misalignment. This is the level of commitment you need to escape the entropy of meaninglessness

Ross Le Brun The Scrutiny Committee has wider powers than you suggest, Ross. It can compel in a way it once couldn't. The 2020 Scrutiny of Public Bodies Law allows it to apply to the Royal Court for an order to require appearances, evidence, documents, etc.

This topic seems to be raised quite often. If I was a democratically elected Deputy, it would be very easy to undermine a Scrutiny function that was criticising my Committee if Scrutiny had no or very limited democratic accountability itself?

A major cheat code in life: Raising the energy of every room you walk in. Stand tall when others shrink. Optimistic when pessimism reigns. Present not distracted. Enthusiasm is rare. Contagious. And a choice. Be the one who elevates everyone else. Let your energy be magnetic.

Back in the 70s & 80s, we had politicians who were intelligent, deep thinkers, largely trying to improve society in accordance to their principles and beliefs. Now we have a race to the bottom. Politics has become a gameshow for vain-glorious charlatans, shysters & chancers.

Great homage to English radical history from Jeremy Corbyn, writing in the Telegraph today: 'The Enclosure Acts, one of the most grotesque abuses of power by Parliament, took away the growing and grazing rights of the rural poor...' share.google/TlxxXaLfOGNNGL…

'A monstrous attack on working-class life, the enclosures represented the widespread theft of public land, sanctioned by a parliament that was dominated by landowners. The rural poor, left with nothing and facing starvation, were forced to migrate to industrial cities...'

Wake up and immediately look at small screen before clocking 8 hours behind medium screen. Take a few breaks to check in on small screen. Go home and spend a few hours staring at big screen to wind down before getting into bed and looking at small screen. Living the dream.

Capel Lofft Our political class have absolutely no intellectual, cultural or spiritual hinterland. None whatsoever. They are the hollow men, the stuffed men, headpieces filled with straw.
