PACs, super PACs and secret money groups, oh my! What's the difference, and how are they used to hide the true sources of election spending from voters? We turned to CLC's Executive Director Adav Noti for a quick, watered-down explanation in our latest #CLCExplains video.

A major new campaign finance decision from the DC Circuit dropped today, ordering the Federal Election Commission to do more to enforce rules requiring super PACs to operate independently of candidates. (This is a big win for the folks at Campaign Legal Center). Here’s a quick primer:

Campaign Legal Center condemns today’s shocking act of violence against former President Trump. Our democracy depends on every American rejecting all forms of political violence. Tragic events like today’s shooting in Pennsylvania should never happen – not now, not ever.

It was wonderful chatting with Andrew Weissmann (weissmann11 on Threads/Insta)🌻 and Mary McCord about the security of election certification in 2024. There’s been lots of progress on this since 2020. Don’t worry about the nonsense in Georgia — the system is in good shape!

Voters choose their leaders, not the other way around. Certifying elections isn't optional. The guides we have created with @brennancenter Campaign Legal Center Protect Democracy will help election officials understand their legal options when certification is challenged

Truly a game-changer. Threats still exist — probably always will — but it can’t be said enough how much more secure presidential elections are because of The Electoral Count Reform Act.

Yes this is the real story! It’s a huge deal that the once & future most powerful man in the world — who tried everything he could to avoid this result — was convicted of election-related felonies by a jury of regular citizens and sentenced. A good sign for the rule of law.
