One flaw in Stephen Greenblatt otherwise perfect Dark Rennaissance ‘this island of England’ p 180. There are three countries on this Sceptred Isle this… oh!

The ‘magic’ spring of Barenton, said to be in France (to please French-English audience) is, in reality, the non-magic spring at Barnton, three miles west of Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh. Just noted it is hard to see in the image - bottom right it now feeds a horse trough.
