Target the problems not the symptom. Absence would be much lower if schools were accessible & safe for all pupils and also if holiday companies weren't allowed to massively inflate prices in school hols. It's also unreasonable to expect parents to send unwell children to school.

Whenever I see someone write "we are human first and counsellors second" I find myself perplexed that a distinction can be made. I am a human counsellor. And my humanness does not preclude me from attending to boundaries and not centring my own needs in my work.

I'm not necessarily against statutory regulation per se, I actually think it will make little difference to clients, but the way therapists act so scandalised & outraged by the current PSA system has little to do with harm in therapy imv. Can we just call it status protection? 🤷‍♀️

I'd just really like it if therapists would put some thought into their therapeutic approach to elements of practice such as between session contact, touch, and receiving gifts, before they crop up in client work. Making these decisions in a reactive way can cause harm.

I'm having an ADHD assessment in a few weeks. I didn't know I was on the waiting list. A few years ago I asked to be referred and the GP text me and said we'd need to have a 15 minute phone call prior to any referral. I never replied. Did I... pass the screening?
