For many decades in this country we have had legal heroin prescribed as morphine. Let's change these NHS guidelines now - rather than wasting time arresting desperate mothers at airports.

This mother's campaigning led to a law change that meant her son Alfie could be prescribed medicinal cannabis for an extremely rare form of epilepsy. But despite it being legal, many doctors are still not willing to prescribe the products meaning many patients don't have access.

This picture speaks a thousand words. All of these children are benefitting from the same cannabis oils, yet their parents have to fundraise to pay for their medicine each month. It’s time the NHS & government stepped in to help these children. Matt Hancock NHS

The draft NICE guidelines have been disappointing for families like Ilmarie's Access4Eddie. If patients are unable to access cannabis-based meds via legal routes it may be time to decriminalise access via currently illegal routes. cdprg.co.uk

Ilmarie's son Access4Eddie thrives on cannabis oil but the draft NICE guidelines entrench the difficulties the family has to get him the prescription he needs. Read Ilmarie's blog on how the draft guidelines have shattered her hope for patient access 👇 cdprg.co.uk/blog/ilmarie-d…

Well done today everyone. It's unimaginably difficult dealing intractable epilepsy, then dealing with the bills of a genuinely life changing medicine. But to be forced to traipse to Donwing Street to make politicians do their job is frankly just outrageous. Sort it Matt Hancock!
