With funding from The Gov't of Japan through JICA - Japan International Cooperation Agency, IOM Ghana handed over to Port Health of Ghana Health Service a successfully completed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facility, as well as a fully furnished prefabricated isolation structure at the Aflao border (Ghana-Togo).

2/4 Resolution 45/106, passed by the United Nations General Assembly on 14th December 1990, declared 1st October to be the International Day of Older Persons.

3/4 The number of older people (defined as those aged 65 years or older) tripled from around 260 million in 1980 to 761 million in 2021. The Ghana Health Service in collaboration with partners as part of its mandate has been planning for Ghana’s aged population.

4/4 This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the United Nations International Day of the Older Persons (UNIDOP) under the theme: Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations”.

Ghana is leveraging data to improve health service delivery. Today, we are supporting Ghana Health Service to disseminate the World Health Organization (WHO) Harmonised Health Facility Assessment results. This is a comprehensive service availability and readiness survey of all levels of health delivery in Ghana.
