On Saturday six Abingdon rowers headed to Boston for the first round of GB Rowing water assessments. Some really positive performances and lots of experience gained by James, Lucas, Ed, Oli and Will, with a special mention to current Captain Eddie on finishing 11th.

A fantastic trip up to the Tyne for Rutherford Head and some training. Thanks to Tyne Amateur Rowing Club for running a great event and for Newcastle University Boat Club for being brilliant hosts. A very enjoyable weekend for all and we look forward to coming back next year!

A solid set of results at the latest round of GB trials in Boston. Well done to James, Lucas and Oli across the two days as they raced the 3.5km course three times in different combinations. Abingdon School Abingdon Sport Old Abingdonian Club 📸 AllMarkOne

Saturday evening we gathered at school for this year’s Boat Club Dinner. We were privileged to welcome back OA Tom Digby as guest speaker. Tom shared his journey from a not very sporty 13 year old to Olympic Champion and all the lessons he learnt along the way. Truly inspiring.

For the first time since 2011 the 1st VIII raced at the Head of the River. A great performance from the boys saw them finish 49th out of 336 crews. A brilliant dress rehearsal for the Schools Head of the River on Tuesday.

This week saw seven crews race the Schools Head of the River. Some really encouraging results and it was great to see the J15 and J16 crews race this event for the first time. Thank you to all coaches and teachers and all the parents for the support along the bank.

The final race of the winter head season took place at Dorney Lake on Wednesday. Thanks to The Scullery for organising another fantastic event. Highlight of the day was the J14’s taking a brilliant Gold and Bronze medal in the quad event with the B crew also the fastest B crew.

An excellent Easter camp in France. The first time back abroad since 2019 and boy did it deliver. A fantastic week for the senior squad putting in the miles on the water and spending quality time together off the water. Now onto regatta season starting with BASHER on Saturday.

A fantastic start to the regatta season as our top J16 crew took a Silver medal up in Nottingham for the Thames Upper region. This result helped Thames Upper win the overall Victor Ludorum prize for the top region as well as the boys overall trophy.

On such a great day for the club this photo epitomises how important the strength of the team is. After getting to the final in 16A 8+, illness meant a med sub. One of the boys stepped up & the crew completed a brilliant win. This photo showing all 10 of the crew with their pots.

At the start of half term the club travelled to Nottingham for this season’s Nat Schools Regatta. Friday saw the J14’s racing here for the first time with the coxed quad continue their undefeated season taking the Gold medal! Saturday saw all crews make the A/B finals.
