It’s Christmas for #serverless devs at #reInvent. Custom runtimes, dependency layers, composable apps, enhanced SFN workflows, API Gateway websockets, Lambda+ALB, managed Kafka, oh my!

#TheExpanse wouldn’t be where we are without our fans. As a humble thanks, we brought some #ScreamingFirehawks out to the Season 4 set. We hope this visit was as special for them as it was for us.

Listening to Mark Nunnikhoven talk on cybersecurity is at #serverlessconf is sounding like a job pitch for a mlm career. Highly lucrative, low risk!

Does anyone know of any ‘developer productivity’ “tools” that are centered around the *expertise* of engineers? I can’t seem to find any as I look around, which seems really strange. Anyone?

I recently dove back into Terraform and took some teammates for the ride. It inspired me to write my first blog post, I hope someone finds it helpful! trek10.com/blog/beginners…

There is so much detail, depth, and content in this book. It's worth every penny, and even all the dollars. Alex DeBrie has built THE DEFINITIVE guide on DynamoDB and you owe it to yourself to give it a read. dynamodbbook.com

DynamoDB with a good single table design is just blisteringly fast 🤯 There’s a learning curve to understanding it. The right resource will get you through that as efficiently as possible. Can’t recommend Alex DeBrie’s DDB Book enough! dynamodbbook.com

aws.amazon.com/blogs/compute/… interesting post from Stephen Liedig but where is mention of concentrating pipes into buses and the benefits that can bring?

Possibly the best, most comprehensive dive into “docs as a product” I’ve ever read. 😍 Really appreciate these thoughtful, nuanced takes on this work.

Asking thousands of our devs to work with 1500 lines of CFT meant serverless was failing. Lots of config unique to us, external articles dont help CDK lets 1 expert scale knowledge & support others, so does CF modules etc. I have no hate for any tool - use what makes you fastest

In 2006 I was meeting with Jeff Bezos to discuss acquiring Audible when he described their founder Don Katz as “a missionary, not a mercenary.” I later learned Jeff got this framing from John Doerr, and it struck me as a good distinction when evaluating people. Here's a 🧵:

lastweekinaws.com/blog/clickops/ Corey Quinn is this different than the natural ebb/flow between tool > expert > tool economy is driven by scarcity & inevitable economics of leveraging a larger "less skilled" worker pool?

I made all of Forrest Brazeal's comics semantically searchable so we can all find the "Relevant Brazeal" easily and quickly. Also by I, I mostly mean GenAI. Many thanks to typesense | search for sponsoring the project and providing their cloud hosting for the live demo.
