How should we think about fraternity as a constitutional value? What are its moral underpinnings and its dangers? papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf… or tinyurl.com/35vue4ay. Preprint of my chapter in forthcoming Cambridge Companion edited Aparna Chandra Gautam Bhatia & Niraja Jayal

A bit of unabashed cross-posting. Gratified to see my book in print after years of work. My thanks to my editor Karthik Venkatesh (‏‎‎ کارتِک وینکٹیش, ਕਾਰਤਿਕ) The link to pre-order online is in the comments, but if, like me, you’re more an indie store person, the book should be at bookstores by 25 July

No sir, they do not. Just because there are a few bad apples in the system does not mean that genuine persons with disabilities do not require a leg up in an ableist world. I would have expected a senior government official like you to comment with more responsibility.

What is arbitrary power? My answer centres on the caricature of the tyrant, which I argue predisposes us to label disliked non-Western 'others' as arbitrary. I hope to help avoid ethnocentricism in identifying arbitrary power. Open access on Law&Phil: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

You know patriarchy can be gender-neutral when a woman party-in-person addresses a division bench headed by a lady judge as ‘Sir’

I paid the driver twice the amount that was due to him just to throw the money on his face and told him that I would prefer falling down than taking his help. He said why are you offended I was not even talking to you.I said exactly the point. You were treating me like a suitcase

Happy to have been cited in the Supreme Court judgment on S 6A of the Citizenship Act. More importantly, glad that Chandrachud J accepts that "there is no general principle that the constitutional validity of under-inclusive provisions must be assessed with judicial deference".

Today in The Indian Express, I argued that the political branches (legislature and executive) must foster—(what I term as) ‘postadmission inclusion’—for transgender students by making school curricula inclusive. indianexpress.com/article/opinio…
