By the way, he is not the only one. Major General Noam Tivon, also 61, drove from Tel Aviv, joined the troops on the ground and rescued his son and grandkids. He stayed and help the troops fight the terrorists that were still there.

If Senator Menendez lacks the decency to resign, he should be expelled by his fellow Senators. Under Art. I, Sec. 5, a 2/3 vote is required. The presumption of innocence should protect him in a court of law, but the public evidence now suffices for the Senate to do its duty.

I continue to follow with great sorrow what is happening in Israel and Palestine. I renew my appeal for the freeing of the hostages and I strongly ask that children, the sick, the elderly, women, and all civilians not be made victims of the conflict.

Humanitarian law is to be respected, especially in Gaza. Please, let no more innocent blood be shed, neither in the Holy Land nor in Ukraine, nor in any other place! Enough! Wars are always a defeat, always!

With the world in turmoil let us turn to the Lord in prayer. Fasting, offering Masses, praying the Rosary, offering Eucharistic Adoration, all of these are powerful prayers that root us in the strength of the Lord & bring peace to our hearts.

I invite all believers to unite with the Church in the Holy Land, dedicating themselves today to prayer and fasting for peace, so that the hostages be freed, civilians not be made victims of the conflict, humanitarian law be respected, and innocent blood not be shed.

The situation in #Gaza is desperate. Please let everything possible be done to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe. The possible widening of the conflict is disturbing. Let the weapons be silenced; let the cry for peace be heard from the poor, from the people, from the children!

I have decided to declare Friday, 27 October, a day of fasting, penance and prayer for #peace. I invite the various Christian confessions, members of other religious, and all who hold the cause of peace in the world at heart to participate.
