As I’m writing this message I have tears coming down my face. Today I received a lay off notice from Los Angeles Times. It was a childhood dream of mine to be a reporter for this paper and at least I can say I did it! Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. This isn’t the end.

I'm one of 115 who were let go from LAT today. I'm proud of what delosangelestimes accomplished and thank the Guild for securing us severance. I guess now's a good time to finish my novel-slash-screenplay! Hmu if you need an LA-based writer, singer or DJ: suzy dot exposito at gmail

I’ve been crying in waves all morning and am slowly trying to process next steps. I’m grateful for my colleagues and my friends and family ❤️ also thankful for delosangelestimes that gave this little Waukegan journalist a chance to shine even if just for a moment.

I was just thinking the other day about the incredible work delosangelestimes has done & how quickly they’ve grown on Instagram & resonated with the Los Angeles community. Hearing their team has been gutted. This is such a loss.

A HUGE thank you to Angel Rodriguez Fidel Martinez Martina Ibáñez-Baldor for giving me a shot and believing in me. I am forever grateful to have worked with you all and the entire delosangelestimes team!!

And let me just reiterate...De Los isn't gone. Fidel Martinez Martina Ibáñez-Baldor Jessica Perez @Spacehoes_ are still there and will do an amazing job of building on the legacy. Please still read De Los!!!!

Excited to serve as a board member on Society for News Design this year! snd.org/about-us/snd-l…

Honored to have been a digital judge at Society for News Design this year!

Wrapped up this year's iteration of the Los Angeles Times' Día de Muertos digital altar. A project created by Vanessa Martínez, Fidel Martinez and myself four year ago. It's a beautiful project to scroll through. latimes.com/projects/dia-d…
