We were pleased to hold the first Cross Party Group on Colleges & Universities for this parliamentary term Scottish Parliament with Universities Scotland today focusing on Tertiary Funding, with Andy Witty presenting for the sector. Thanks to Sai NUS Scotland and Kate Institute for Fiscal Studies for their presentations.

First Minister John Swinney was at UHI Perth to mark the start of Scottish Women and Girls in Sports Week 2024. He spoke to students about their experiences and about how accessing sport has helped improve both their physical and mental wellbeing. #LetsMoveTogether

I loved my time as a student at University of Strathclyde so I’m delighted to be getting started with Strathclyde Union as an External Trustee today. Looking forward to helping the Union continue to succeed and support students (Even if it still felt a little weird not walking up John Street!)

We are delighted to be in Manchester for #WSUKFinals2024 supporting Scotland’s competitors. We were at Oldham College this afternoon following a range of competitions including Landscaping, Electrical Installation, Digital Construction and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

It was great to see our competitors from 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 DandGCollege UHI North, West & Hebrides UHI Moray Glasgow Kelvin College New College Lanarkshire as well as staff from New College Lanarkshire organising two of the competitions.

We have also met with Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP and Michael Marra MSP Scottish Labour thus afternoon to discuss the financial position of the sector and the need for investment to support the colleges in Scotland. Thanks for a really engaging and constructive conversation.
