I really enjoyed getting to do a podcast with Matt Bateman on school choice. We talked about various school choice policies, concerns with bureaucratic overreach, the injustice of the public school system, and how we need better arguments for freedom in education.

If you view education as “trivia needed to pass tests” or “status marker to get ahead” the more you’ll resist education from birth. But if you view it as Montessori did, as“training a living being in how to thrive at life” the more stridently you’ll support education from birth.

What this discussion should make clear is that altruism doesn’t mean “being kind to others” It means seeing some people as a mere means to the ends of others. It means punishing those with any virtue or competence *because* they’re virtuous and competent.
