Such a great experience visiting a school in Kathmandu, #Nepal, which is one of the #typhoid vaccination sites. This new vaccination campaign, the first in World Health Organization South-East Asia, is a combined effort by the government, teachers & parents, supported by World Health Organization (WHO), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF. #LongLifeForAll

Apparently there is something called “honey madness” caused by a toxin in honey made from certain rhododendrons, and I desperately need Josh Trebach, MD to create a scenario where a plane crashes next to a beehive in Nepal.

Kathmandu Residents, do not put everything to Balen Shah's shoulder. Do your bit. Be more responsible towards your role as citizen too.

#EditorsChoice Sarah Brownlee MD et al examined the association between CPB hematocrit & postoperative acute renal failure in patients undergoing aortic arch surgery w/hypothermic circulatory arrest, and recommend strategies to maintain a higher hematocrit👇 doi.org/10.1016/j.atho…

🫀 New study! Ruby Singh et al., led by Asishana Osho, MD, MPH, explore how ex-vivo heart perfusion (EVHP) duration impacts DCD heart transplant outcomes. Extended perfusion times (>8.3 hrs) are linked to higher 6-month mortality and worse long-term survival: shorturl.at/Y983w

Amazing presentation by Selena Li at the C. Walton Lillehei Resident Forum today on her work looking at proteomic signatures after EVHP hearts as predictors of PGD. Kicking it off strong! Asishana Osho, MD, MPH S. Alireza (Ali) Rabi MD. Ph.D.

Shoutout to Ghazal Sanadgol, MD, MBA, one of our research fellows, on her strong oral presentation this morning on her work on an intention to treat outcome analysis on valve sparing root replacements #AATS2025

Do #DCD lungs that require #EVLP evaluation have different survival outcomes? This publication suggests DCD lungs without EVLP have less risk of mortality after txp when compared to DCD lungs that have undergone EVLP. 🫁 #LungTx Selena Li, MD 🔗: jhltonline.org/article/S1053-…

New study looking multi-institutional prevalence of patient prosthesis mismatch after SAVR since 2002 - 14% from 41%. Better, but still a big problem. Lucy Nam, MD Ruby Singh Sameer Hirji Asishana Osho, MD, MPH Jordan Bloom

Recipients of #DCD hearts with extended ex-vivo heart perfusion duration may have worse survival outcomes. Transplant teams should exercise caution in considering hearts with extended perfusion times. #DCDTransplant Ruby Singh Asishana Osho, MD, MPH 🔗: jhltonline.org/article/S1053-…
