Perhaps power rather than prowess? Dollar and T-bond hegemony rather than dynamism? Relentless and compounding accumulation of asset wealth by the few at the expense of all? Sorry The Economist but please provide analysis rather than Silicon Valley boosterism

"soaking the rich" and "at war with the wealthy". The irony of The Economist engaging in class politics, despite the failure of the Labour government to engage.

If I could get past the paywall, I'd like to know how many are academics who teach and research, and how many are bureaucrats and managers?

Are you a cartel UCEA? Perhaps a secret society? A cult, maybe? In addition to uniformity and doublethink, are there rituals or other scripted behaviours which you require your members to perform? Do you chant together at meetings, for example?

America’s dominance over the global financial system has been a mainstay of the post-war order. But Russia hopes to break the dollar’s hegemony at this week’s BRICS summit econ.st/4dZKNYK 👇

Very sad to hear the news about the passing of Keith Shaw. A hugely generous and supportive colleague during my time at Northumbria. Do you have any information about how we can pay our respects to Keith @mbailliesmith?

You know FinTech is baked into everyday life when ... The Android phone you bought (because the old one died) keeps receiving text messages from the phone's manufacturer telling you it will be convenient to upload all your debit/credit cards to the wallet preloaded on your phone

The shock and surprise surrounding this news story is laughable. The British rentier state has always worked in this way, at home and abroad.

The only mention of university staff in any of the media coverage i have heard/seen/read about today's announced increase in tuition fees implied we're shortchanging students, so just putting it out there that we've been doing much, much more for much, much less for last 15 years
