Today I asked the Prime Minister if he will finally do what’s legally and morally right and end the government’s complicity in Israeli war crimes by banning ALL arms sales —including F-35 fighter jets — to Israel. He said “no”.

The bombs raining down on Gaza are in part being supplied by this country. I asked the Prime Minister if he would finally end this country’s complicity in war crimes. He refused.

Because ……? Israel has a right to defend itself against all grave yards and all corpses. This was never about the right to self defence (which also is not a right when you are an illegally occupying force).

We are heart-broken daily and the fact that we were accurate in our warning and the last year has proved us maddeningly correct shows the quality & reliability of our decades of research but it is no solace at all. It exhausts all our resilience every day. 2/

But here we are - now grieving daily anniversaries with colleagues one year into a plausible genocide, agonising as it extends to Lebanon and Iran, visiting some of the 800,000 refugees in Cairo and trying to find the strength every day inured now to the walls of silence 3/

We now know things deeply we should never have known; understand how genocide happens viscerally, in the core of our beings because it is - in it’s psychological forms - also happening to us; to our work; our colleagues; our friends. We have resigned from helplessness. We are.

In our circle post 7th October, so many groups and individuals, from football journalists to football club representatives, were hell-bent on defending Israel to the point of damaging their 'brand'. Wonder how many (if any) of them have now realised that they made an arse of it
