The most ambitious project in math seeks to answer fundamental questions by connecting disparate branches of the field, like calculus and geometry. This effort, known as the Langlands program, recently received a rare gift that has vastly expanded its potential. (Thread)

Thank goodness, hopefully this will prevent people learning that Sci-Hub which hosts 85 million scientific research papers. Absolutely do not search Google for sci-hub to gain access to 85 million scientific research papers for free. Don't retweet this. Piracy is wrong.

Many people behave as if they are the hero in a movie that surely will be OK at the end. The real world doesn't work that way.

I cracked up repeatedly reading this essay. It's written about Australia but applies so well to the US too. Hats off to you, Ben!

I’m compiling a list of recent cryptography developments to catch up on from the past 10 years or so. So far, FHE and PQC. Other recommendations?

A friend of mine who does this routinely says that buying Federal legislation is extraordinarily inexpensive, so long as you don’t get into a bidding war. And, so long as the people hurt by the legislation don’t organize—no bidding war. palladiummag.com/2021/09/24/a-w…

In part three of our drug affordability series, we look at how states plan to deepen and expand their strategies to lower #drugprices and how federal reform, now under debate, would augment these successes. arnoldventures.org/stories/part-3…

None of this is right, and it’s kind of the lefty equivalent of QAnon boards where everyone is convinced that all licensed doctors on Earth have stupidly missed the critique you found with a Google search.

Xingyu wanted to get one or two CVEs in his name this quarter. Right now he has 32 pre-registered CVEs for a high-profile third-party SDK that'll likely be disclosed January-ish (and it's gonna be amazing).

I remember when the consensus was that insurance would be impossible. Then it would make cyber security better by enforcing baseline practices. Then that it is making security worse by encouraging high payouts. I wonder what we’ll believe next?

Just some antivax docs calling for nuance. Provax docs are too busy writing blogs no one reads, demanding FDA approve vax for 2 yo after negative trial, and calling for booster mandates for adolescent boys 👇👇

My coworker just announced some incredible work: A BLE link layer relay, which achieves only 8ms of overhead. This allows relaying BLE-based proximity authentication messages at great distances over the internet, and circumvents usual mitigations such as link layer encryption.

I am putting here a recently published article that many could not access due to the paywall. Pakistan is facing a multi-dimensional crisis, probably the worst since 1971 when it broke up after the Bangladesh war. 1/n
