First kimono (and performance) of 2024! While traditional dance is a hobby of mine, it’s inspiring to watch so many talented dancers, and be part of an art that has kept kimono alive and vibrant in the Japanese Canadian community.

Two months ago, I helped organize the programming of the JCYoungLeaders 2024 conference. It was humbling and inspiring listening to JC leaders Perry and Omatsu, and listen to the exciting ideas of the yonsei, gosei, shin issei and nisei! 皆さん、ありがとうございました!🙇🏻‍♀️

It feels surreal to attain a Master of Arts researching Japanese Canadian history at an institution where, 82 years ago, my great uncle was forced to leave because of his race. I hope to use the opportunities I have been given to continue to tell the stories of my community.
