The authors did find a few kelp ecosystems that are net autotrophic (i.e., they take up more CO₂ than they release), but the reason remains unclear.. The paper “Seaweed ecosystems may not mitigate CO₂ emissions”, can be accessed here… 2/2 academic.oup.com/icesjms/advanc…
