As a video essayist myself I do noticed it has become a bit of a pandemic. Using buzzwords + personal commentary + a rant does not = essay. Comparing to 2/3 years ago it got watered down, quality-wise, for the sake of pop sensationalism / subscription mining which hurts the genre

Also - very true. My friends ask me why I don’t make mine shorter and more, you know - “pop”, so I can grow my channel quicker. You have no idea the amount of research & investigation it takes to make something SOLID. I’d rather have it hurt channel growth than content quality.
