The government is missing the key point - the main barrier to work for people with mental health problems is not being able to access NHS mental health support.

Removing financial support is not going to help people move into work, it'll just worsen people's mental health

Let’s not use people struggling with mental illness as a way of detracting from the truth. We need thriving communities, accessible services, eradication of poverty, we know what works. Those who carry the risk of this policy are the most vulnerable - is this who we are?

So many answers lie in a full scale prevention approach. Our false economy attitude to health policy is hurting people & communities. Want to help people into work - improve pay & conditions, want to reduce CYP mental illness - invest in community hubs. It’s not rocket science!
