Speaking and Listening… at what point in your GCSE curriculum does this fit? Why did you place there? Does it work where you’ve placed it? #teamenglish

I'm looking at running a CPD for all staff based on use of a visualiser. In English we use these a lot and understand how beneficial they are for modelling/feedback/general teaching and learning. Does anybody have any examples of how they're used effectively cross-curricular?

My email to staff was greatly received today 📧 🗣️“This is possibly the best email I’ve every received!” If you want to create a classroom which inspires children and one which you can be proud of, then you’ve got to invest time and money into it the same as everything else!

Question all… We all place our low scoring students into interventions, but what do we do for our readers with high reading data? #NGRT #literacy Jennifer Webb

NEW ‘Power and Conflict - The Interpretations’ revision booklet. I always get my students to consider 3 interpretations of each poem and ask them to consider which they agree with the most. It’s a great springboard for debate and considering new ideas. I have collated these into

Can a teaching and learning lead ever know all the different subject-specific pedagogical practices? Or how would they develop their understanding of these?

Handwriting bias is a real problem. Some essays are really hard to read & get lower marks as a result. Our latest feature lets you toggle between the original handwritten script & a transcription.

What do children learn in history in schools? What modules do they actually take at GCSE and A-Level? All this, and more, in a new report for Policy Exchange by Zachary Marsh and me, published today. Chart below: % state secondary schools teaching the following in KS3.

Another Literature paper and another set of students who are gutted that their TikTok Teachers’ predictions are false. How do we stop students from listening to that nonsense?!

Transition reading for our new Year 7s… we’re really excited to be sharing yet another Ross Welford read for you all. Hopefully you’ll be able to meet the author next academic year! #readingforpleasure #literacy

I have two copies of The Visualiser Handbook to give away. This is for busy teachers who need concise clarity to make live modelling an effect part of their practice ASAP. To enter, follow, like and retweet this post and I will draw winners at random on the 18th July.

Another day, another visitor… this time the returning Kimba aka the Kernel. Our Year 7s and 10s were inspired by Kimba’s anecdotes and they all drafted their own metaphor-fuelled poems. Thank you!

1. Are schools not testing enough for reading data already? Do we need more? 2. Are students who don’t read for pleasure really needing a mandatory test to tell them that they can’t read? 3. If true, why Year 8? If you’re going to do this, it needs to be in Year 7.. EARLY?
