Today were the first local #elections in Belgium since compulsory voting was abolished for local elections in Flanders (it still is compulsory in other regions). The impact was instantaneous and large, with turnout dropping from +90% to ca. 65% according to preliminary estimates.

In December, I had the honor of defending my thesis on media coverage and political parties' selective issue emphasis during election campaigns in Quebec from 1994 to 2022. I am excited to spend the coming months at Aarhus University, pursuing my postdoctoral fellowship! 🌍📚
